Call for observance of the day has been given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference.It was on 5th January in 1949 when the UN Security Council passed a resolution supporting the Kashmiris’ right to decide their future by themselves under a UN-supervised plebiscite.In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, a special session of the AJK Legislative Assembly will be held today.The members will draw the attention of the international community towards its obligations on Kashmir and gross human rights violations by Indian troops in Indian illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.In Muzaffarabad, Pasban-e-Hurriyat and other Hurriyat organizations have arranged rallies at Shaheed Burhan Muzaffarwani Chowk to mark the day.
